Click here IIw Dear Jeffrey, No doubt you have heard about the horrible mess children have found themselves in as they escaped poor, sometimes life-threatening conditions in many Central American countries. We are currently pursuing an opening with FEMA to go to the US-Mexican border towns where immigrant children have been detained. Tens of thousands of small children have been terribly traumatized by these experiences and we are hopeful to work directly with as many of them as possible. Ten years ago I created Second Response because of the immense number of PTSD cases that emerge after natural disasters. Since then, we've reached more than 100,000 children whose traumas were significantly reduced because of our efforts; most we worked with never experience long lasting symptoms. Today, we are rapidly shifting our efforts to a more targeted outreach not only when disasters occur but also training in advance of catastrophic events. The events at our borders offer a unique, unexpected opportunity to have a positive impact on the injured psyches of little children. We have also been in contact with government agencies in Santiago, Chile where friends and supporters are eager to bring us to the region for trainings. We are discussing dates in November 2014. It may be possible to align this effort with a visit to Guatemala as we have been approached to offer our trainings to make a difference EFTA00367395 there, too. There is a very real possibility that we will partner with a small, highly qualified team from one of the most experienced disaster relief groups in the world who have expressed an interest in collaborating. We have strengthened our infrastructure at Fortunate Blessings and Second Response over the past two years. We are now projecting a budget in 2014 and 2015 of more than 5400,000, nearly triple that of previous years and as a result very much need your support to implement these immediate responses. I remain available to answer questions you might have or talk with you personally should you find that our efforts to prevent PTSD in children resonate with your personal philosophy about making a difference in the world. Support Second Response today. As always, thank you for all you do and have a great summer!
