Lesley,
Did I miss the window? No call at 2:30......
I do plan to stay in the office until about 6 today and will be in all day tomorrow as well. Happy to reschedule.
Because of the snow we depart Litchfield on Saturday instead of Friday so there is one more day to schedule a
call before I leave — first to SF, then LA and onto Asia on Tuesday —
Hope we can make this happen — and thanks again.

Lesley,
I can appreciate that Jeffrey is busy and often hard to reach and naturally I respect his time.
It would be greatly appreciated to arrange a conversation in the next two days as I myself am about to
leave the US for an extended period as part of my work with disaster relief in Asia, the Mid-East and
elsewhere. As an organization, Second Response (the initiative of Fortunate Blessings Foundation which
I founded 16 years ago) is entering a critical time, a major turning point made that much more significant
as a result of our trauma team now on the ground in Tacloban, Philippines. The word from there is that
our work is felt to be extremely valuable by UNICEF, World Vision, WHO, Save the Children and many
other relief agencies. We are hearing this from others as well.
Should you or Jeffrey wish to scan through the daily Blog — Second Response (with photos) from the
Philippines, click on the link. The Second Response home page also has a three minute video outlining
our work. The bigger site, Fortunate Blessings Foundation, has much more history and background.
What is pressing now is education-based funding for training and credible evaluation of our
methodologies in the field and staff development so that we can reach more children. We've retained
(and are hoping to hire in the next two weeks) a highly qualified PsyD, Michelle Wang, who has been the
prior Program Director at the VA Hospital PTSD Clinic in San Francisco.
Can you mention all this to Jeffrey and let me know if we can have that conversation? For the 17 years
we've known each other (we first met at Stephen Jay Gould's apartment and then I consulted at the NYC
residence), we have never discussed my relief work. I think he still sees me as working with people who
are dying while in fact I am focused mostly on disaster relief.
Now is a time I believe his valuable support can truly make a huge difference.
With thanks,
Bill
