> Athletic Fields Hotline 594-3610
> As the spring weather is slowly improving for outside play, all Town athletic fields are
monitored for public usage. This includes all parks and public school facilities. The Town
observes a Field's Hotline recording that announces the opening and closing of all fields
around town. This applies to Sport Groups, Sport Organizations and individuals either on a
scheduled use or drop-in basis. Decisions to close fields are not based entirely on whether
the sun is out but rather the condition of the turf for both recognizing dangerous conditions
for participants as well as the potential damage to the field surface itself.

• How about Fishing in New Canaan
> We have two of the best ponds to fish at- Mead Park and Mill Pond. Both having undertaken
a dredging and facelift, great places to drop a line. CT State Dept. of Environmental
Protection 2011 fishing licenses are required for anyone over 16 years old and can be
obtained online at the CT DEP website. Mill Pond was the recent site of the Spring Fishing
Derby with the pond stocked with lots of Trout. Try your luck.
