Since its inception at UCLA in 2010 (and going back to its birth in the Harvard Univ Mind Brain & Behavior Interfaculty Initiative in the mid-1990s), the seminar will meet on Wednesdays from 630 - 930 PM. I will change the 2016 dates listed to match the 2017 dates and confirm the guest professors ASAP. Thank you so very much for your interest and support! Cheers, Mark On Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 11:23 AM, Stephanie A. White < wrote: Dear Michele, I've just had verbal confirmation from Mark to proceed with listing MI 103 for spring. I've copied him here. Let me know what additional information you need. Megan and I will work hard to circulate awareness of the course to boost enrollment, given the latish date. I'm very grateful for the support, and can work with Michele to schedule the class for spring and get a room, etc. I was sorry to have to let it go, and told Mark last term that if funding could be secured, we'd be very happy to put it on MI schedule. (I'm cc:ing Michele and Belen to jump-start the process. To: "Smith, Judi" Cc: "Lebre, Me Dear Judi, "Lee. Jenny [BRI]" I hope your personal year has started off well (even if our political one hasn't). I am following up on this course. I have obtained Prema Windokun's (and Dean Sork's) agreement to cover $9,000 of payment for this course for this Spring so that is available to our undergrads. Also, Mark Tramo has agreed to teach it again (but was hoping for a higher sum). This all took so long to arrange that we have not had the time to change the course number this year. I am writing to ask if it is possible for the course to remain as Mus Ind 103 this Spring (recognizing that mainly neuroscience majors take it) and then work on revising the number for next year (2018)? If that is possible, my sense is that Prema would transfer the funds for Mark to the School of Music. (That has happened for two other courses taught by Med School adjuncts this fall.) Our administration could take care of scheduling and enrollment if that helps. Again, I am relatively new to this process so am keen for any guidance. I am copying our two neuroscience SAOs, Megan and Jenny. Thanks, Stephanie On 8/1/2016 10:03 AM, Smith, Judi wrote: Dear Stephanie, Good to see you at lunch Friday and I know you will jump into the challenges of being the interim chair of the neuroscience program! And, I am hoping that you will be able to follow up with Mark Tramo, I reviewed our contract with him last year. He taught the course "Music and the Brain" (MUS IND 103) only in the spring. He was hired as a lecturer (w salary rate of $88,648) and was paid $9,751 for the quarter. This is based on an expected course load of nine courses per year. Hope this helps.
