It has been an exciting year with
ICL work, Expanding our schools and getting engaged! I hope you have
saved
I am also writing to update you on this past years achievement for the Institute
for Civic Leadership and our last Holiday Scholarship drive.
During the holiday season -- a time for giving -- we're asking for
your support of youth service leaders who are dedicating their lives
to helping others. These young men and women are answering our call to
"make service count" in their communities and around the world. We are
the Institute for Civic Leadership (ICL), a leading supporter of youth
service leadership initiatives that are having an immediate, positive
impact on the lives of thousands and thousands ... orphans, the
homeless, hurricane survivors ... students who want to learn but have
no schools, villages without clean water, and communities ravaged by
storms. The list goes on, but the mission of the ICL remains the same:
to provide the funding, skills, and recognition needed to help top
youth from around the world become successful agents of change and
social entrepreneurs.
The ICL steps in where many of today's educational institutions fall
EFTA00558494
short: by teaching youth service leadership skills to bridge the gap
between the untapped -- and unbridled -- enthusiasm of youth and the
limitless potential for social change. The ICL makes the
successful connection between passion and service -- between ideas and
real-world solutions -- and has been doing so since 2001. A recognized
leader, the ICL has garnered accolades from such respected authorities
as former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Vice President Al Gore,
just to name two, but our laser focus is on countless young service
leaders who have championed causes, become catalysts for social
change, and grown into inspiring role models for others to follow.
Each year, the ICL provides scholarships for students to attend our
summer leadership training academy, hosts global leadership
conferences, and funds meaningful service projects touching countless
people, thanks to the multiplier effect, in over 30 countries on six
continents. One such social entrepreneur is Daniel Maren, who linked
his passion for dance with his commitment to orphans in Indonesia. He
created a non-profit called Dance for Orphans, with the help of the
ICL, dedicated to building a school for orphans and the surrounding
community of West Timor, Indonesia. A Stanford University freshman,
Daniel eagerly looks forward to the opening of this school in the
spring of 2013.
Please support others like Daniel who are passionate about making a
real difference. Examples of gift support are: $1,000 can enable a
student to attend
the UN/ICL Winter Leadership program. A gift of $5,000 can provide a
scholarship to the summer Global Leaders Academy. And a
$10,000 gift can support the ICL school re-building and relief
initiative. Please make your tax-deductible donation today at
www.iclglobal.org/donate.
Thank you for your generosity -- and for thinking of others during
this holiday season. Best wishes from ICL to you and your family for a
happy and healthy New Year.
