Origins Project Postdoctoral Prize Lectureship The Origins Project at Arizona State University is pleased to announce the inaugural Origins Project Postdoctoral Prize Lectureship. This prize will be awarded annually to an outstanding junior scholar chosen from all countries, from any field of study relevant to the Origins Project. The prize consists of a $10,000 USD, and travel and accommoda- tion expenses. While visiting ASU, the winner will present up to four lectures on his or her research area. Nominations will be accepted starting September 2014. The prize is open to junior scholars who were awarded the PhD no earlier than July 1, 2010 and do not hold a tenured, tenure-track, or equivalent position. Each eligible department may put forward only one nominee for the prize. Criteria for selection will include outstanding research credentials as well as an ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to a broad audience in English. Eligible Disciplines We encourage nominations for junior scholars working in all fields relevant to the Origins Project. While all fields of science, humanities and social sciences will be considered, particular emphasis will be placed on the following areas: • Anthropology • Astrophysics • Biological Sciences • Chemistry • Complex Systems • Cosmology • Economics • Engineering • Geology & Planetary Science • Mathematics & Statistics • Medicine • Neuroscience • Paleontology • Psychology • Physics • Sustainability Application Requirements Faculty nominators must submit letters and depart- ment chairs must email Chair Nomination Form to by December 1, 2014. Shortlisted nominees will be contacted to submit the following materials in January 2015. •One cover letter addressing the connection between their research and the interests of the Origins Project • One proposal no more than two pages that out- lines the planned colloquium and public lecture •A current curriculum vitae •Two supporting letters of recommendation to be emailed directly to the Origins Project addressing his or her qualifications, accomplishments, and research potential.
