Luttier. managing partner of the law firm of BCLC. has been named President of The Boy Scouts of America's Gulf Stream Council for the 2012 and 2013 calendar years. The Gulf Stream Council, which is focused on achieving excellence in provid- ing a quality program to a growing youth population in America at all levels of the Boy Scouts of America, serves over 10,000 Scouts and 3,000 adult volunteers in Palm Beach, Martin, Stuart, St Lude. Indi- an River, Okeechobee. Glades, and Hendry counties in Southeast Florida. In his new position, Luttier will be responsible for supervising the Gulf Stream Council and its officers; assuring that chartered duties and obligations — national and local — are met; presiding over meet- ings of the Council and executive board; being a member of all Council committees including administration, district operations, development, endowment, membership, marketing and prop- erties; appointing the chairmen of all Council committees: and finally serving as a national coun- cil representative for the Gulf Stream Council. Luttier replaces outgoing Gulf Stream Council President John Marion. According to Jeff Isaac, Scout Executive and Chief Executive Officer of the Gulf Stream Council. Luttier's selection can be attributed to his leadership skills, knowledge of the Boy Scouts program. and long-term pres- ence in the South Florida region. "Mark will not only be a great stabilizing presence for the Gulf Stream Council. he will also bring us into the fold of the South Florida community thanks to his great connections and the relation- ships he has built here as a Floridian and established attorney,' Isaac added. "The entire board and I are very excited about the energy Mark will bring to the position. We anticipate he will bring the same hands-on, make-it-happen attitude to the council that has made him the successful lawyer he is today: "It is truly an honor to have been selected as president of our local council,' Luttier said. "I have been involved in scouting since my early years as a Cub Scout. As an Eagle Scout, I am a firm believer in the value of scouting for our youth and for the development of future leaders. Gulf Stream Council is fortunate to have the Tanah Keeta Scout camp, which consists of one square mile of land, available for our use, as well as the support of many members of the community from Boca Raton to Vero Beach. I look forward to working with everyone in the community throughout our council to ensure that scouting and its many opportunities and benefits continue to be available to our youth well into the future." WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW... The BCLC team is committed to ensuring that our clients and colleagues are educated about what's happening in the legal industry and news today. Within each newsletter, we will identify terms that we feel you should be aware of... Personal Injury Protection (PIP) • PIP is the law in Florida - a no-fault state — and therefore the minimum requirement to operate a vehicle. • PIP is a guaranteed health insurance policy for a person who is injured in an automobile accident. • When a person is injured in an automobile accident, if they do not have regular health insurance but they have PIP insurance. they are guaranteed $10.000 of health insurance less the deductible they have chosen. In other words, the person injured is guaranteed $10.000 worth of health benefits. Uninsured Motorist Coverage • Underinsured Motorist coverage (UM) protects drivers when the other driver either doesn't have enough auto insurance or none at all. • UM insurance is especially good to have in Florida as the state does not require motorists to carry bodily injury coverage. • UM is the flipside to Bodily Injury (BI) insurance. In other states, the two are fairly different. In Florida. we've simplified it so that if the person who hit you is uninsured a simply underinsured, it won't matter. As a result, BI insurance will cover you if you hurt somebody else...but what happens to you if the per- son who hits you doesn't have BI insurance and is fairy poor and can't pay a judgment? That's where UM comes in to play. ..MAIN Oil IC A: WI 9T PArM BI AL .1 I. f l ORIDA WWW.ICICIAW.COM I WWW.FACEBOOKCOM/BUftMANCRITTON News & Updates • BCLC Partner Mike Pike will host the RAISE THE BAR: Support Fu- ture Women Leaders Event on March 29 at the Historic Palm Beach County Courthouse. Lebedeker, who has more than 17 years of experience, joined BCLC in 2003 and has earned a reputation in the Florida legal com- munity as a hard-working trial at- torney with wins in the areas of investor fraud, commercial litigation and personal injury. • In early January 2012, BCLC Asso- ciate Dean Xenick was accepted into the Craig S. Barnard American Inns of Court, which is the West Palm Beach chapter of the Amen- can Inns of Court, a nationwide prestigious organization of judges, lawyers and legal scholars who focus on enhancing the skills, pro- fessionalism and ethics of their profession. • The Law Firm of BCLC is committed to supporting the South Florida community.
