Frank Wilczek, Visiting Professor
The Origins Project welcomes Nobel Laureate Frank Wilczek as a
returning visiting Professor to Arizona State University and the Origins
Project. Professor Wilczek will be on campus for the spring semester of
2015 to participate in research, lecture and participate in various
University events.
Alan Alda & Lawrence Krauss: Science and Art, Long
Lost Lovers, an Origins Project Dialogue.
Thursday, January 15th 2015, 7.00 pm. Emmy Award winning actor
Alan Alda and noted Cosmologist/Physicist/Author Lawrence in a
candid and unscripted conversation on the importance of scientific
literacy and the role of science and creativity in our society. Orpheum

Great Debate Extinctions: From Tragedy to
Opportunity
Saturday, February 7, 2015, 7:00 pm. Speakers tentatively
scheduled include Diane Ackerman, Michael Crow, Svante Paabo,
Lindy Elkins-Tanton, Craig Venter, will participate in a public

discussion of extinctions throughout history: from biological systems

Noam Chomsky & Lawrence Krauss: Science, Mind,
and Politics, an Origins Project Dialogue.
Sunday, March 22, 2015, 7.00 pm. Science, Mind, and Politics will be
a candid and unscripted conversation on contemporary issues on the
nature of humanity, the power of science and the mind, and global
social justice. This will make for a thought-provoking and controversial
evening. ASU Gammage Auditorium, Tempe, AZ.
APRIL 2015
Origins Project Postdoctoral Prize Lectureship
Endowed and sponsored by the Epstein VI Foundation, this
international competition will award a $10,000 USD prize and a week-
long lectureship tour at the ASU Tempe campus. One individual will be
chosen from an international list of candidates originally nominated by
their academic mentors. This is the largest cash award of its type in the
world.
Great Debate Water: From Habitable Planets to
Water Wars
Saturday, April 4th, 2015, 7.00 PM. Selected members of the three-
day workshop will participate in a public discussion of fascinating
issues ranging from the search for habitable planets in the universe to
water based challenges in the 21st century: rising sea levels, regional
water shortages, systemic drought, access, quality. ASU Gammage
Auditorium, Tempe, AZ.
DECEMBER 2015
Origins Project Cruise to Antarctica
December 2-12, 2015. Origins Project Director, Lawrence Krauss, and
Nobel Prize winning astronomer Brian Schmidt will lead a group of sea
adventurers to explore the beauty of this southern continent. On board
lectures topics will include science at the South Pole, what we are
learning with today's biggest telescopes, and what the Antarctic tells us
about climate change.
