Thus, after repeated objections, Ms. Maxwell asked the examiner to repeat and then
rephrase the question; the rephrased question was met with an identical objection; and after the
objection the examiner, in an attempt to cure the foundation problem, added, “If you know?”
Ms. Maxwell’s response to that question—“I don’t know what you are talking about”—was
entirely appropriate, and could not have been perjurious.
