This is a unique piece of music theatre in other respects as well, such as its magically luminous music, its poetry and its comedy. Simon Rattle presents the work together with star director Peter Sellars, with whom he has already realised many exciting projects, including their acclaimed interpretations of Bach's Passions. The evening also included the Philharmoniker's 1st principal violist Amihai Grosz as the soloist in William Walton's Viola Concerto. Plus, Sir Simon wanted to perform the Haw Janos suite by Zoltan Kodaly once again with his EFTA00632518 musicians following its success at the 2014 New Year's Eve concert. The Berliner Philhamioniker made this "brilliantly orchestrated music from 1927 shimmer and sparkle, turning it into pure joy" (Der Tagesspiegel).
