Measured from the base of the center support stake to various points on the base, verifying the radius is 10 feet. The rest of the photos are showing what you saw and concluded yesterday - there is still a lot of work to be done. The base ring will have a support ring welded on to it. The arches, which will make the frame of the dome, will then be welded on to the support ring, approximately every 2 feet. To provide maximum strength and stability, the arches will be doubled - there will be about 60-62 arches - they have to be formed - you see the ones they have already bent - they total about 11 so far. Once the arches are in place on the support ring, a plate in the form of a disc will be fabricated and welded to the top of the center stake, at 11 feet, and the tops of the arches will be cut and welded around this disc. The aluminum panels which will cover the frame are in 2 foot by 10 foot sheets. Each section requires 17 feet to cover from base to apex, so 2 sheets are required, the bottom one is 10 feet, and the upper one cut down to 7 feet. They will be shaped and cut to fit. This process has not started as yet. I asked Mr. Samuel when, in his time frame of completing the base and support welding, bending the remaining arches, assembling the frame, and bending, cutting and attaching the panels, would the dome go to the painter. He says the painter will be on site, working in tandem with them. As they complete a section, the painter can begin with the priming. Mr. Samuel still believes that 1/24/2014 is a viable date. He has cleared his work schedule, and he and his 2 sons are all completely on this project. I told him you may stop by in the future. Respectfully submitted, Daphne EFTA00636585
