Hello Insiders,
The Times news meetings held at 9:3o a.m. and 4:3o p.m. on weekdays are, in
many ways, the linchpins of The Times workweek. Editors gather around a big
conference table, the Washington bureau dials in; top news is discussed, debates
ensue. Are we giving a story enough play? How can we go deeper? Should we
cover that story in this way? What do we know and what do we not know?
We are so thrilled to open up two news meetings in August to a handful of you,
dear Insiders. Since there are more of you than seats, you'll need to answer our
trivia question to enter our lottery. Ready to play? Go!
I recognize that may be enough excitement for one day, but I would be remiss if I
didn't leave you with this piece by Peter Baker, our chief White House
correspondent, in which he compares interviewing Donald Trump with
interviewing six other presidents.
Writes Baker: "With Mr. Trump the experience is strikingly different in almost
every respect." Read on...
Until next week,
