From: John Steele To: "Jeffrey E." <jeevacation@grnail.com> Subject: Re: Nautilus Education Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2017 13:14:35 +0000 Jeffrey, Do understand that. Have you ever talked to Marc Kastner at the Science Philanthropy Alliance? They have formed with major philanthropic organizations to fund cutting edge science research. My wife and I just spent a few days with Larry and Lisa in Cape Cod. Nautilus is going to put up a science poetry and literature channel on Nautilus at the start of 2018. Another extension of our multidisciplinary approach to science. I briefly mentions our Education Program when we got together. For years teachers have been telling us how difficult it is to get quality science writing for the classroom and the project puts Nautilus print and online into schools across America to support science literacy. Carnegie Science is sponsoring Nautilus into all DC high schools and Bob and Bethany Millard (Bob is Chairman of MIT Corp as you probably know) are sponsoring 250 schools. Combined with individual contributions we are now launching Nautius Education into over 500 schools and expecting to expand to several thousand schools by September with grants from the LOR Foundation and Gordon Moore Foundation. I thought the program might be worthy of your support and have attached an information package. For $5,000 you can put Nautilus into every school and the University of the Virgin Islands. $90,000 would put Nautilus into every New York high school. The HHMI/Simons supported merger of Nautilus into AAAS is still slowly moving forward. AAAS wanted us to do a survey with our readers to determine the potential subscription renewal rate. I thought you also might find the results interesting. EFTA00650898 Will let you know how all this unfolds.
