Jeffrey Epstein: Medical Research
Through his Foundation, Jeffrey Epstein has been able to fund a great number of cutting edge medical
research projects in the fields of cancer, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Crohns and Colitis, Multiple Sclerosis
and many others. The Foundation ahs focused its' support to MmJieat-researeh-alMws-aeientiats-and-

Cancer Research
Over the years, the Foundation has provided considerable support for cancer research. Cancer researchers
face two major challenges. The first challenge is that many of the treatment options available to patients
are incredibly toxic and dangerous. Chemotherapy and radiation not only kill cancerous cells in the body,
they also kill healthy cells. The second challenge is that cancer cells are able to genetically adjust and
adapt to treatments quickly, making them meaniag-thefrheeeme-immune to chemotherapy and other
medical treatments.
Research, supported by the American Cancer Society and the Foundation, is seeking a way to fight back
against rapidly mutating cancer cells. Known as circulating tumor cell technology (CTC), the research is
led by two scientists, Dr. Daniel Haber, of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, and Dr.
Mehmet Toner, of the Center for Bio Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems.
Epstein's The-Foundation notes that CTC is still in the early stages. Scientists take a sample of blood
from a cancer patient. Using CTC antibody screening, they-examine-the cancer cells are isolated and
analyzed for potential adaptations and genetic mutations. The close examination of cells allows doctors
them to respond to any changes quickly and as they occur, in other words in 'genetic real time'.. As CTC
develops, it stands a real chance to change the way cancer is both diagnosed and treated.
Epstein's The Foundation has also provided significant support for a number of medical studies that
examine the healing at impact of music on develepment-and-reeemepy-frem certain conditions. One study
that received significant funding from the Foundation in 2011 examined the benefits of playing music to
premature babies. The study waa-done-te-examined the effect that-hearing-of vocal mesie-might4ifive-on
the stress levels of babies in the NICU. It was found that music can significantly help lower stress in
babies. The study was conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and with at the assistance
of Institute for Music and Brain Science at Harvard University.
The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation has also provided funding to examine the role music can lay in helping
patients with Parkinson's disease. In addition to providing funding to examine the connection between
music and healing, the Foundation has also supported research for ovarian cancer, MS, and Crohn's
disease. In the years to come, Jeffrey Epstein sees a growing trend of individual philanthropy in the field
