View it online instead Ij This Week on Kickstarter JANUARY 26, 2012 Our favorite projects this week include a band of musical machines from the bygone Industrial Age, a series of portraits shot inside your favorite four-letter furniture store, and a family farm dedicated to tasty meats straight from the pasture. North Mountain Pastures Going whole hog If you love artisan charcuterie, then North Mountain Pastures just might be your new favorite spot. This family-run farm has been curing meat for years, but is now looking to make its operation fully "pasture to plate" by building an earth-banked aging room. The all natural structure will allow them to make big flavors at a low environmental cost — to which we say: Salute! North Mountain Pastures by Brooks PACategory Food lit_ocation Newport. He's built everything from massive drumming machines to wind instruments resembling old-fashioned church organs, each as spectacular to behold as they are to hear. The pieces are slated to debut with a performance of original music at the 2012 Hudson Music Festival. EXPLORE THIS PROJECT Picture perfect Amy Lombard's project began by accident, when she happened to capture a few customers in some photographs she was taking at an IKEA. The coincidence became inspiration for Happy Inside, a series of images reflecting on the commodification of different lifestyles. Now, many trips and countless Swedish meatballs later, she's ready to turn a selection of her arresting portraits into a book.
