From: Mayor Philip Levine To: jeevaeation@gmail.com Subject: Update: MLS Stadium, Uber, and Pets' Trust Date: Fri, II Apr 2014 12:05:23 +0000 > Having trouble viewing this email? Click here p Dear Friends and Neighbors: In an effort to keep Miami Beach residents abreast of the latest developments and initiatives of the City Commission, below is a list and brief description of three EFTA00676390 resolutions we recently passed. These are non-binding resolutions unanimously adopted by your City Commission that inform the County Commission of our stance on certain matters where we do not have authority to dictate policy. As a pragmatic and progressive City Commission, we feel compelled to inform the County Commission of our vision for Miami Beach. Click on the link following the descriptions to read the adopted resolution in its entirety. Major League Soccer: We wholeheartedly welcome Major League Soccer to South Florida, but we believe that the currently proposed location in the Port of Miami is inappropriate, will cause significant traffic congestion on the MacArthur Causeway, and will be detrimental to Miami Beach residents. Moreover, there are other sites in Miami-Dade County that are less controversial and more appropriate for the location of an MLS stadium. Major League Soccer Resolution Uber Resolution: In recent years the for-hire transportation industry has been revolutionized by companies such as Uber and Lyft which provide digital on-demand taxi and luxury car service. Miami Beach is a preeminent residential community and a world-renowned tourist destination and would greatly benefit from comprehensive and meaningful reforms to improve the local for-hire transportation industry. Digital Dispatch Providers Resolution Pets' Trust Resolution: The City Commission strongly endorses the mission of the Pets' Trust and encourages the Mayor and the County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County to implement the will of the people as approved by the 2012 Pets' Trust ballot initiative and to fund improved animal services programs in the 2014-2015 County budget. This ballot measure was approved by 67% of Miami Beach residents and includes: improvement to animal welfare services, increased adoptions, and educational programs, among other initiatives. Pets' Trust Resolution Sincerely, Philip DOD Office of the Miami Beach Mayor Join Our Mailing List Forward this email ;11 This email was sent to jeevacabon@gmail.com by Update Profile/Email Address Instant removal with SafeUnsubscribew Privacy Policy.
