Lance,
Irrigation
I recommend the we do things by stages so that , if necessary, we can pull out part way through the process Also we
would be best to separate the design of the system from the installation (just like using an architect) so that we don't get
sold a particular, expensive system and we get to choose what we can do ourselves.
How about the following:-
1. We ask for an irrigation audit and assessment from a certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor and Designer. This will
show us what is right and wrong with our present system and let us know what we need if we are to have a state-of-the-
art centralized control with a 2 -wire decoder system, flow monitoring, rain shut off and all the other good things we
would like. the can also give us a broad idea of costs.
2. If we like the Designer, we then get him to quote for a complete design for LSJ irrigation including the provision for
future modification and expansion. If JEE is OK with the cost. we commission a full design.
3. We (LSJ) decide which parts of the design we are capable of doing (I would guess this is the excavation and
installation central water line network),
4. We put the installation of the electronics, sensors, flow meters etc out to contract (maybe local but unlikely). We have
these items on a long term maintenance contract.
5. We have at least two of our staff trained in pipe and head installation and repairs.
By doing this we have control at every stage and we separate the design from the build. (Scott could even quote
competitively for the installation).
I do know of one company in Florida (Winter Haven) that is a certified Irrigation design Auditor and Designer. They are

If you are OK with the above I suggest that I contact their Boss, Russ Prophit, and find out how much they would charge
for the audit and consultation. We can take it from there.
Incidentally do we need to bring Lafayette into this at an early stage?

JEE asked that we get a quote for the computerized irrigation system and what it will entail.
Thanks
