Our criminal justice system is based on finality and on encouraging people who made mistakes to suffer a single punishment and then have a chance at a new life. Mr. Epstein has paid that price for his past mistakes. There is absolutely no allegation of any such conduct after 2005 and all of what has been pled to or even alleged occurred long before that. As Mr. Epstein said through a spokesman in a statement, this was a different time in his life and one, with the help of counseling from professionals, he has put behind him. He is a different person today than he was when these events occurred many years ago. He is focusing on helping the community through educational, scientific and healthcare philanthropic contributions, as well as discharging his responsibility as a financier at the highest professional level.
