Fireworks over the East River in New York, as seen from a rooftop in Astoria. Stephen Hiliner/The New York Times Hello Insiders, Is it just me or does July 4th seem an eternity ago? Thanks to those of you who wrote in to share your Independence Day plans. You spent the day doing all sorts of things: helping at a pancake breakfast, biking, watching the movie "1776," listening to baseball on the radio, running a half marathon, watching a parade.
