Tues 17th Oct, 5.30pm, Harold Pinter Theatre Speakers Intelligence Squared are delighted to be staging a pre-theatre discussion, tan We Bring Peace Between Enemies? in association with the award-winning play Oslo. The play is a political thriller which tells the true story of two maverick Norwegian diplomats who coordinated top secret talks culminating in the groundbreaking Oslo Peace Accords. The discussion will take place on October 17th at the Harold Pinter Theatre, and brings together James Rubin. former Assistant Secretary of State for the US State Department, and William Sieghart, founder of an NGO which works with leaders from all parties on both sides of the divide in the Israel/Palestine conflict. Chaired by Jonathan Freedland. they will discuss their experience of against-the-odds peace negotiations and what lessons can be leamed from the past that apply to the political climate today. Tickets to the chaired discussion can be bought here. Tickets to the 17th October performance are not required to gain admission to the talk and are subject to availability, but tickets for other performances can be purchased here. About Oslo Oslo was awarded 'Best Play' at the 2017 Tony Awards® and was winner of every 'Best Play award on Broadway. Following a sell- out run at the National Theatre, where it has won 5-star reviews from the critics, it transfers to the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre on October 2nd. The play relates how a young Norwegian couple, Mona Juul and her husband. Terje Red-Larsen. planned and orchestrated top- secret, high-level meetings between the State of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organisation, which led to the signing of the historic 1993 Oslo Accords. Featuring dozens of characters and G. c?. James Rubin Assistant Secretary of State and Chief Spokesman for the US State Department under Madeleine Albright from 1997-2000, during a major Clinton administration push for an Israel- Palestine peace deal.
