Hello Insiders,
Is it me or does the current news cycle make each week feel more intense than the
last?
The alerts on my cellphone piled up Thursday after the U.S. launched dozens of
missiles at a Syrian government air base. President Donald Trump said the attack
was conducted in the "vital national security interest" of the U.S.
What do you think: Do you agree with Trump's decision to order a missile strike
on Syria? Vote here.
Meanwhile, the journalist Jeffrey Gettleman shared a harrowing account of
meeting a former child soldier in South Sudan. It's raw and tragic. Please take the
time to read it.
Then consider, as counterpoint, our conversation on mindfulness with Dan Harris
(the author of "io% Happier") and the Times reporter David Genes. They
answered questions about meditation (How? Where? When?) which we might
find useful in a moment of frenzy. Read!
Finally, I hope you'll take a tour through the closet of the Times fashion critic
Vanessa Friedman. If you've ever bought something to wear and wondered —
"What on earth...?" - this may help explain it. eR ad!
Until next week,
Francesca Donner
