here is another response.. before I communicate to the others, I wanted to establish whether this is happening.. At
this point, if you really want to cancel the meeting I will absorb the embarrassment and come up with something
to tell people.. please let me know asap though, as this week I was hoping to put together a more detailed
agenda.

Hi Lawrence
Forgot that I hadn't responded - I think I will talk about "What drives the origins and growth of Biodiversity?"
this may intersect with the talks by Ariel, and possibly by Neil.
See you soon

Subject: advisory board meeting-pre agenda
As the advisory board meeting will occur in a little over a month in St. Thomas I wanted to touch base with all
of you and give you a brief outline of what we are hoping for, and also to provide each of you with a short
homework assignment.
The meeting will be more of a discussion of ideas than a review of progress and making plans (although there
will be a bit of that). I would like to ask each of you to prepare a 30 min-ish (can be shorter or longer)
presentation on one key question you have been thinking about, or working on, in your respective areas of
research, each of which reflects an important area for consideration in our origins program. We will use these
mini-lectures as a chance to launch discussions of areas on which we should focus. If you could frame your
talk around a question (preferably with an origins theme) that would be great, and if you could let me know
what it is in advance, we will work out a detailed program before the meeting.
We are looking forward to having you in ST. Thomas. I can assure you that the organized sessions will occupy
EFTA00753455
only a modest fraction of the time there and that we will plan some interesting activities around the actual
meeting.
