From: Faith Kates < Sent: Monday, December 15, 2014 5:59 PM To: Jeffrey E. Cc: Subject: now you have it by email and by mail... Dear Jeffrey, </=pan> I was devastated wh=n Michael passed away this past June. Now, with your help, I would like to=build something in Michael's memory that he would truly be proud of.=As you know, Michael's life revolved around tennis. After his great junior career — he never lost a match in hig= school — and going to San Diego State to play there, he worked for =roServ, representing tennis players (no surprises there). He always had hi= hand in the game, even recently promoting tournaments at Madison Square Garden and working with my kids, teachi=g them how to be great players. </=pan> New York Junior Ten=is & Learning (NYJTL) is nearing completion of a state-of-the-art tenn=s and educational facility in Crotona Park, in the heart of the South Bron=, named for my dear late friend Cary Leeds, who played on the professional tour in the early 1980s. Since Michael pass=d away, many people have asked me what they can do in his memory. I have b=en thinking about this all summer and then a light went on...Michael a=d Cary were great friends. They had so much in common: they were both great junior tennis players, they were both=always the most handsome men in the room, they could both charm anyone, an= most of all, they both loved me and I loved them with all my heart and so=l. I would love your help in raising money to name a court in Michael's honor. 4=pan> The Cary Leeds Cent=r for Tennis & Learning includes 22 tennis courts and the 12,000-squar= foot clubhouse, which will house classrooms for NYJTL's programs, a=youth and adult lounge, a computer lab, and study rooms, all serving the poorest Congressional district in the United States= NYJTL will utilize the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning as its=flagship center and as a model for its innovative curricula. Through tenni=, academic enrichment, healthy living and character development programs, NYJTL has been teaching valuable skill= to 75,000 underserved children throughout New York City for over 40 years= </=pan> I can think of no b=tter way to honor Michael and his love for tennis by naming a court at the=Cary Leeds Center for him. It would be wonderful if you could join this en=eavor and contribute to my goal of raising $250,000 in his memory. If you would like to join me in this endea=or, please send a check payable to "New York Junior Tennis League :=21; marked for the attention of Julia Mallis, to NYJTL, 58-12 Queens Blvd,=Ste 1, Woodside, NY 11377. </=pan> Warmest regards, EFTA_R1_01301001 EFTA02338594 58-12 Queens Blvd, Suite 1 Woodside, NY 11377 2 EFTA_R1_01301002 EFTA02338595
