When Rinchen Zangpo was born, a beautiful bird appeared his mother's head and
it was seen as an auspicious coming. Sure enough, Rinchen Zangpo was unique.
Bright and personable, it was apparent to all that he was special. At the age of
13 he took his vows and became a lama.
By the time he was 17 he had been chosen
by the king to cross the mountains into India and retrieve the original teachings
of the Buddha. In order to do so he travelled on foot to Kashmir to get the
teachings. Along the way he met a pandita, a teacher, who gave him the teachings
known as The Teachings of Swift Footedness (should be in italics, but I don't
know how to do that on email). With these teachings he was able to cover the
breadth of India, learning from some of the renowned sages and launch the Tibetan
Renaissance, the Second Diffusion. Later he was able to used Swift Footedness to
simultaneously build 108 monasteries throughout the land.
You were in PH on Monday, NY last night and now in PB. So the point of the
above is to note that you and Rinchen Zangpo have at least one thing in common
... your travel habits.
Good Night,
