This led to Miami Beach experiencing reco=d rainfall that caused many of our streets and neighborhoods to flood. &nb=p;This was further exacerbated by power outages citywide, that caused drai=age infrastructure to be temporarily offline. The city continues to work to mitigate flooding by upgr=ding the stormwater system that drains the city's streets during rain and =idal events. However, severe events can cause temporary flooding that impa=ts us all. The new system is designed to handle 7.5 inches of rainfa=l with a peak intensity of just under 3 inches per hour. Today, our city s=w peak rainfall intensities of greater than 7 inches per hour. This =s more than double the new design capacity. The new stor=water systems have only been installed in approximately 15% of the city.</=trong> In neighborhoods that have not been upgraded, the city continu=s to work to remove water from the streets and swales. There is still a lot of work to be done and we need to continue =hese efforts. We are in this together. It is important for=residents and businesses to also do their part to protect themselves and t=eir property. For businesses that know they are in low-lying and flood pro=e areas, this includes using flood panels when heavy rainfall is expected.=nbsp; Today is a reminder that we need to all be prepared for u=expected weather events. Our Public Works Department is diligently working=to respond to this flood event and will continue to work to respond w=en severe weather hits our city. Please see below the city's Ass=stant City Manager, Eric Carpenter's response to this event. &nb=p; Sincerely, EFTA_R1_01311701 EFTA02343517 Philip Levine &=bsp; Mayor of Miami Beach &nb=p; <http://img.constantcontact.comffetters/images/sys/S.gif=/></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td class=> <http://img.con=tantcontact.com/letters/images/sys/S.gif> <http://img.con=tantcontact.com/letters/images/sysAgif> <http://img.con=tantcontact.com/letters/images/sys/S.gif> <https://imgsslconstantcontact.com/letters/images/1101=16784221/1MML_SG1_,IMML0S.png> <http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0=1umm4Q09uua2nAzAohVAzBR6xEnLoSVD6sro5tGSAzeO- OLo76OLSBs_c3yIQPuVqMBfOjrx1t=_3ugTswwjmHnnRFroDuLkva8I8nEb0YfooiuKAjx3HL2wadmi8Bs28miYUE6CDKHc_v9 lwijT4=SkcuQ6tHtzl3JaliCtio0vUxkl4vlop9iDB49KnYFIlDevdGF7O08hgU=&c=CJ925UAqsU-A=Ral84Nu- ljpRWPLEp_YNBIN4TAizDFu7chSBPSrFw==&ch=q3ZbcVnhOSWN7VxWWFXdO=STGGpKu9SL0MANUBCbFaj5SX0qYSMrW A==> <http://r20.rs=.net/tn.jsp?f=001umm4Q09uua2nAzAohVAzBR6xEnLoSVD6sroStGSAze0- 0Lo76015BiC=GpJb9w06yo3nTY5xXqVBax8Ilhb7gMnIADL- n_SPOU9aXjZljGDU9sTzMHarr38_dFPfMpyFc4=_o7zYRjxTZYCts8NmbL9RIRN2UQBpDzajdvRkJOLcxbxmoaXDug==&c=092 SUAqsU-A=R-1184Nu- ljpRWPLEp_YNBIN4TAizDFu7chSBP5rFw==&ch=q32LxVnhOSWN7VxWWFXdO=STGGpKu9SL0MANUBCbFajSSX0qYSMrW A==> <http://r2O.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=•OO1umm4QO9uua2nAzAohVAzBR6xEnLo-=VD6sro5tGSAzeO- OLo76OLSBrvMfjftO2ds4tWIVyJzYQrtL6ZJP1yOWB4svSHzd_MqfsXPSwH=UC4w5MEIkt8DZ7- Cx4D8OOSONTaGcLaXWzcSXOGghdT2- ulWs7_cVQeNw2FtXUUc7rjONqFYqk=qTbIWHmAFqkBXDbpdaHbO8sk=&c=CJ9ZSUAqsU-AjCt184Nu- ljpRWPLEp_YNBIN4TAizD=u7chSBP5rFw==&ch=q3Z1xVnhOSWN7VxWWFXdOESTGGpKu9SLOMANUBCbFajSSX0OSM= WA==> Office of the Miami Beach Mayor =/td> <http://img.con=tantcontact.com/letters/images/sys/S.gif> <http://img.constantcontact.com/letter=hmages/sys/S.gif> <http://img.con=tantcontact.comiletters/images/sysAgif> <https://imgssl.constantcontact.com/=etters/images/sys/S.gif> Office of Miami Beach =ayor, 960 Alton Road, Miami Beach, Sa=eUnsubscribem jeevacation@gmail.com <https://visitor.co=stantcontact.com/do?p=un&m=001tdRnrwsnwO0MxBUQ1eN0mQ%3D%3D&ch=6b0dc4=0-7d35- 11e3-bde5-d4ae5275bla5&ca=8b917380-0b48-4e3a-b0d5-c6a417ef356a> Forward this email <http://ui.constantcontact.com/sa/fwtf.jsp?Ilr=huxyjxmab=m=1113178529415&ea=jeevacation%40gmail.com&a=1128 518872817> I Update Profile <https://visitor.constantcontact.com/do?p=oo&m=001td=nrwsnwO0MxBUQ1eN0mQ%3D%3D&ch=6b0dc4d0-7d35- 11e3-bde5-d4ae5275bla5&ca=8=917380-0b48-4e3a-b0d5-c6a417ef356a> I &n=sp;About our service provider <http://www.consta=tcontact.com/legal/service-provider?cc=about-service-provider> </=pan> Sent by info@mayorphiliplevine.com <mailto:info@mayorphiliplevine.com> <=tr> <https://imgsslconstantcontact.com/letters/images/sys=5.gif> 2 EFTA_R1_01311702 EFTA02343518
