Here's info on Tony Mulligan. See the video (CNN) and read the articles on the web links below. The sidescan sonar (the coolest part) isn't really mentioned... that comes from my discussions EFTA_R1_0 1477370 EFTA02414412 with Tony. Tony Mulligan ( Emily) <image003.jpg> 71mrsday, Nov. EMILY, or the Emergency Integrated Lifesaving Lanyard, is a robotic buoy that can swim through riptides at a speed of up to 24 m.p.h. Her inventor, entrepreneur and engineer Tony Mulligan, says that makes her about 15 times as fast as human lifeguards. Powered with a tiny electric pump that shoots a forceful stream of water, the 4-ft.-long robotic buoy has been tested at California's Zuma Beach. The device is operated by remote, but next year's model features sonar technology controlled with an iPhonc app that will allow EMILY to detect riptides and submerged objects. • Find this article at: • hlip://www.time.comitime/soecialskackavesiarticle/0 28804 2020407 201061% 2020800.00 html http://www. popsci.com/gadgets/article/20 1 0-06/invention-month-robot-li fe guard http://www. cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/20 10/1 1 /08/nr.tbi.robot.lifeguard.cnn http://www.hydronalix.com/buoy.html <image002.jpg> <Daniel Dubno.vcf> EFTA_R1_01477371 EFTA02414413
