Think about how knowledge of "provenance" affects how you "see" something. There's a difference between looking at an authentic Rembrandt vs. a fake, even if they were identical down to the level of the molecules. The knowledge modulates the "emotional impact" of the stimulus. And I think this is even probably true with illusions. More later. s.
