talked to Steven Steer with Minines Nursery on Beef Island, BVI and they are quoting $9,000-
9,500 each for 24' clear trunk ht. palms delivered but not planted. "They also are getting them out of
Arizona. He says that the Florida palms received a lot of frost damage from the recent freeze plus
the growers don't have 20 matched palms. In my experience, the best date palms have always come
out of Arizona.
I will continue to do further research in the Dominican Republic and elsewhere.

For replacing the large Phoenix Dactyliferas, I've been working with Randy Melvin and they are
available in Arizona or California, however the Arizona ones are probably better (I'll send photos
when available). They all would be matched and we could get 25' or 30' or whatever size you
wanted. The 30' clear trunk palms would be $7,500 each planted. We would need to tag the
exact ones we want and then allow 30 days for digging, shipping & installation. I propose that
we bring Randy over to LSJ to supervise the installation with our crew and crane.
So we can really get them anytime we need them, but the real reality is that we couldn't plant
them until the construction is done which will 2 years be out.
According to Gary, the revised Gensler plans on the main house will be done in 4 months and then
we could begin demolition and construction, so that is when we should move the existing palms
down to the boat dock entry area.
