Subject: salary..
hi jeffrey,
did you get the samples?
i e-mailed you a few days ago about the salary, but you might have not gotten the c-mail.
so i said in that e-mail that usually when i work for other people's projects i charge like 400$ a
day or more depending how complicate is the job.
so that would be around 100 thousand dollars a year.
when i charge for a project, that's different.
for example, for a straight venetian plaster job usually the cost is 20$ per square foot. if i have to
do stencil, gold leaf or other thing on top, the cost goes up 30, 40..
the office ceiling has about 1000 square feet not including the border... so its gonna cost a lot.
that could be done in three weeks , maybe less but not sure
so what do you think? is the proposal for a salary ok?
tomorrow i'll go see the house in manhattan.
thank you,
nicola

hi jeffrey,
i did some samples and I sent them to you yesterday so you should get them today.
i made the samples on paper, and it docsnt matter the texture of the walls, we are going
to have the same smooth surface as in the sample because of the venetian plaster.
the sample for the office ceiling: the background(gray) its made with three layers of
venetian plaster. this make the surface very smooth and strong too. then on top i
did that pattern like free hand to look more like a painting somehow to relate that
more with the painting that will be in the middle of the ceiling. when you look to
the sample put it a little bit far so you can see better how that pattern would look
on the ceiling. the sample is a little too crowded.. but on the ceiling it will be more
space between those green spirals..
i was thinking using the same pattern also for those panels that block the window in the
office, but the background not gray but the same color as the furniture, then those

spirals maybe transparent light brown somehow close to the color of the furniture,
and keep only that white outline.
the other two samples, i made them to show you how those cabanas (bedroom and
bathroom) could look. if you look in pinto's book you can see something similar at
the end of the book...
the rhombus pattern would be bigger on the wall. the other sample shows how one plain
color would look on the wall..
I told you once that the cabanas walls have a texture because of the roller they use for
painting the walls.. its kind a small bubbles... but we can get the same smooth
surface like in the samples, using venetian plaster first, and then painting the walls
with that kind of fresco. we don't have to sand the walls..so no mess, just apply
venetian plaster and get that nice surface.
of course the colors could be more transparent and with less brush strokes...
so, what do you think?
sarah told me that you want me to go and see the house in new york. I'll go friday.
thank you ,
nicola
