Hi Matt — thanks for reaching out, unfortunately it's still an ongoing investigation so we can't provide any further
information beyond what's already been made public.

Subject: FBI questions about Epstein foundation payments in the Virgin Islands and Southern Trust search again
hi all
we are continuing our reporting on Epstein's money trail and we are wrapping up a story about issues with one of
Epstein's foundations -- the J Epstein Virgin Islands Foundation
We have been told by officials with the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources that agents
with the FBI met with them in mid August to discuss certain payments from the foundation to the DPNR to settle
fines and penalties. One check was drawn on a bank account at FirstBank in St Thomas for $160,000 and was in
the account name of Enhanced Education which is an alternative name the J Epstein Foundation was called.
We are told one thing the agents asked was whether the payment was made and did it violate DPNR policy for
charitable entity to use its money to pay fines -- the DPNR confirmed the payment and said it did not violate its
policy.
We are also told that this meeting took place around the same time FBI agents searched Epstein's island
residence off St. Thomas -- shortly after his death.
Your office has confirmed the widely reported search of the island
Can you now confirm what the DPNR is telling us about the inquiry about the checks paid by the J
Epstein/Enhanced Education Foundation?
Also can you now confirm an eyewitness report we have that agents in mid August (around the same time of the
island search) paid a visit to the offices of Southern Trust (and before that Financial Trust) in the yacht-marina
offices in the Red Hook Quarter of St. Thomas.
We are working on a deadline and would appreciate a response by this afternoon

thanks
