Call with Cindy Hopkins
• Called her told boss (Toni Salopec (sp?)). The standard procedure at the time: the reporter
creates a transcript on her computer that is an ASCII file. The reporter then sends that file to
her company, which uses a software called Real Legal to create an electronic transcript, affix
the court reporter's signature, and create a marker on every page.
• Attorneys in the case receive the ASCII files, electronic transcripts, and hardcopy. ASCII file
does not have a signature, so that might be why an unsigned transcript exists.
• Cindy called Visual Evidence. They don't have the video.
• Toni does not have access to the transcript anymore
• Cindy is trying to review her own external hard drive that has her old transcripts. She's
getting technical assistance to access it.
• Cindy also used Carbonite, a cloud storage system, to backup her files. She's trying to access
her Carbonite system.
