National Issues
•
National 9/11 Memorial: OPA - FBI Director Christopher Wray has made a visit to the National September 11
Memorial & Museum in New York City a required part of the curriculum for all new special agent and
intelligence analyst trainees. (Story package includes two videos, multiple photos, podcast, and Director Wray's

FBI Radio: OPA - "FBI, This Week" featured FBI Director Wray and an excerpt of the speech he delivered to
new agent and analyst trainees who made the inaugural visit to the National September 11 Memorial and
Museum. "Wanted by the FBI" highlighted the 69th anniversary of the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and
included a soundbite from IPPAU's UC

Trump Workers: OPA - The Washington Post asked whether the FBI has begun an investigation into whether
golf courses owned by the Trump family hired undocumented workers. OPA responded the FBI can neither
confirm nor deny whether we are conducting particular investigations.

Art Crime: OPA - SSA
was interviewed by a Georgetown University adjunct professor for a published
story regarding money laundering as it relates to cultural property.
Local Stories
•
Boston - Division continues to receive extensive media interest in Operation Varsity Blues. Numerous local and
national outlets, including CNN, ABC News and USA Today, sought to confirm the Wall Street Journal's article
that a parent tipster alerted them about a bribe offered by the Yale women's soccer coach. Multiple reporters
also sought confirmation on the tipster's identity mentioned in the WSJ, and if the case was an offshoot of a
securities fraud investigation. PAO pointed reporters back to SAC Bonavolonta's comments at Tuesday's news
conference where he stated this investigation began while working an unrelated, undercover case, and declined
further comment due to the ongoing investigation.

Buffalo - Division PAO
provided an in-studio guest interview on a live morning program broadcast on
a local Rochester news radio station. Topics included elder fraud, with an emphasis on confidence scams.
•
Miami - CBS Evening News researcher requested video from a 2009 search warrant of sex offender Jeffrey
Epstein's house. Division declined to comment.
•
New Orleans - Advertising the New Orleans March 20, 2019, Diversity Agent Recruitment event, SAC
and SA
visited with local television stations in Baton Rouge, as well as a New Orleans radio station to
promote Bureau-wide diversity initiatives, special agent employment opportunities, hiring benefits, and
program information to assist applicants applying via FBljobs.gov.

New Orleans - SAC
was interviewed by an ABC affiliate to address potential federal violations
regarding West Baton Sheriff Cazes, who transported an incarcerated sex offender/pedophile to his home for
the purposes of conducting home repairs and yard work. Information was then shared with the field office that
the inmate was left at the home unsupervised.

Philadelphia - ASAC Bushner represented the Division at a joint news conference with the Berks County District
Attorney's Office and USAO-EDPA announcing the indictment of eight members of a violent drug gang operating
in the city of Reading.
•
Salt Lake City - SAC
presented Pacific Island Knowledge 2 Action Resources (PIK2AR) with the 2018
Director's Community Leadership Award.
accepted the award on behalf of
the organization, which provides domestic violence prevention, resources and education to members of Utah's
Pacific Islander communities. The local FOX affiliate Interviewed SAC
and photos were provided to other
media outlets.
•
Salt Lake City - Media inquired about FBI activity in Vernal, Utah, after they acquired video of law enforcement
at the scene and a mobile home on fire. Flashbangs were deployed during the execution of search warrants,
but it's unclear what started the fire. One person was arrested. PAO confirmed court-authorized law
enforcement activity.
