JEFFREY EPSTEIN INVESTIGATION 08/28/2019 UPDATE Child Sex Trafficking: 31E-NY-3027571 • On 08/27/2019, FBI NY conducted five victim interviews. • On 08/28/2019, FBI NY conducted two victim interviews in the morning and has one additional victim interview scheduled for the afternoon. • FBI NY plans to travel next week to conduct additional victim interviews. • On 08/28/2019, FBI MM provided FBI NY a copy of the FD-71 related to contact with the FBI in 1996, in which stated she is a Epstein stole the photos and negatives and was believed to have sold the pictures to potential buyers. At one time, Epstein requested to take pictures of young girls at swimming pools. Epstein was threatening and stated if she told anyone about the photos, he would burn her house down. This FD-71 was sent to a zero file. • In addition, on 11/14/2006, was interviewed by FBI MM. The interview was not memorialized in an FD-302, however a 1A containing 23 pages of handwritten notes was located. FBI NY conducted a cursory review of the notes which revealed alleged on one occasion Epstein grabbed her breast over her shirt. The remaining information in the notes did not reveal any additional sexual abuse. • Media reports have indicated Prince Andrew is associated to the Epstein investigation. FBI NY relayed SDNY has no basis to investigate Prince Andrew and will not be pursuing the allegations. • On 08/28/2019, FBI NY will use Twitter to encourage more victims to come forward and will provide 1-800- CALL-FBI for victims to make a report. Digital Media • FBI NY CART is coordinating the digital media triage with OTD SSA • FBI NY CART is currently reviewing two hard drives, which were found in a safe at Epstein's Manhattan residence. Over 165,000 images are located on the two drives. To date, potential erotica images were identified, but no child pornography. In addition, no surveillance video of the residence has been identified on the hard drives. Review is ongoing. Death investigation: 90A-NY-3151227 • On 08/28/2019, FBI NY completed the extraction of CO Michael Thomas's cell phone. FBI NY is currently conducting a digital review. • FBI NY submitted a border crossing alert for CO Thomas and CO Novel Tovas. There has been no indication of potential travel by the Cos; however, FBI NY requested this alert as a precaution. • FBI NY CART copied, cloned, and is currently rebuilding the MCC surveillance system in an attempt to recover video. The process is lengthy and ongoing. • On 08/29/2019, FBI NY will be conducting interviews of MCC medical staff and Cos who were on duty the night of Epstein's death. EFTA00165512 • On 08/28/2019, OCME concluded their report on Epstein's death. FBI NY will pick up a copy of the report today. Color of Law: 2823-NY-3156749 • On 08/29/2019, FBI NY will meet with the owner and manager of the Hutchinson Motel in the Bronx to obtain the subpoenaed records. • FBI NY CART has gained access to CO cell phone. The extraction process is ongoing and expected to be completed by 08/29/2019, at which time FBI NY will begin the review process. • On 09/04/2019, a second proffer will be conducted with Public Corruption: 72-NY-3157147 • On 08/28/2019 at 4:00 PM EDT, FBI NY will interview CO CO had lodged a complaint about potential obstruction of justice. DOJ-OIG has described CO as a serial complainant, with most complaints being unfounded. EFTA00165513
