JEFFREY EPSTEIN INVESTIGATION 08/26/2019 UPDATE Child Sex Trafficking: 31E-NY-3027571 • On 08/26/2019 at 10:30 AM EDT, a hearing is scheduled in the SDNY to formally drop charges against Epstein. FBI NY anticipates 20-30 victims to be present during the hearing and they are expected to have the opportunity to speak. • On 08/26/2019, in addition to the victims already scheduled to be interviewed, FBI NY will interview any victim who demonstrates a willingness to speak with investigators. • On 08/26/2019, the New York Times published an article titled "The Sisters Who First Tried to Take Down Jeffrey Epstein." The article references -contact with the FBI in 1996. FBI NY determined did contact the FBI in 1996 and an FD-71 was drafted. As this document is not maintained electronically, FBI NY is ,' efforts to obtain the FD-71 from closed files. FBI NY will thereafter attempt to interview the family. Digital Media • CART continues to review the three cell phones pertaining to CO • FBI NY will attempt to obtain search warrants to examine the content of the 20 computers seized on LSJ. The search warrants for LSJ only permitted the seizure of the computers. Additional search warrants are needed to review the content. • Eight computers were seized from the search warrant execution at Epstein's Manhattan residence. FBI NY is currently reviewing data extracted from the computers except for text files, documents, and emails due to potential privilege information. At the request of USAO-SDNY, FBI NY CART is extracting all documents, text files, and emails from the computers into USAO-SDNY's "Relativity" program in order to review for privilege information. Due to technical difficulties of the request, FBI CART anticipates completion of the extraction will take several weeks.
