(NY) (FBI) Subject: Request for Travel for child sex trafficking case --- UNCLASSIFIED Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Hey Go Eagles! It was good to see you the other week. Hope you enjoyed the holidays! I'm writing to see if HQ would be able to fund the travel of my partner and Ito Florida to confer with agents/detectives/witnesses regarding a prior Palm Beach case that NY is now looking into. Three prosecutors would likely travel with us. By way of background, we received a request from SDNY to look into a case regarding Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein invited minors into his residences, one of which was located in Manhattan, and paid them to provide massages to him which turned sexual in nature. Epstein was offered a non-pros agreement by the US Attorney in Florida in 2008. SDNY recently received approval from the DAG to move forward. The case has been recently in the news with the emergence of a civil lawsuit that was settled in December. Because this case initiated out of Florida in the early 2000's, we'd like to travel to Florida to confer with the previous agents on the case, obtain hard case materials, and likely interview any witnesses in Florida. Ideally, we'd like to travel next week or the week after as one of the agents we need to speak with will be going out on maternity the third week of January. Estimates: Flight (approx.): $257 Hotel (approx.): $199/night ($597 total) ME&I (approx.): 274.50 Total: $1128.50 per person — ($2257 total) I'm not sure how funding is affected with the shutdown but wanted to see if it was still possible to receive funding since this is an operational travel.
