(USAFLS); Sanchez, Eduardo (USAFLS) Subject: Jane Doe 1 and 2 1 United States - Petitioners' Fourth Request for Production EFTA00211093 John, I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me this morning about the request for production served upon the government in this Crime Victims Rights Act case. I have attached the request, which contains eight (8) separate requests. The first seven pertain to emails that may exist on FBI servers. Petitioners' attorneys are seeking emails generated by FBI personnel regarding potential improper influences being exerted by Jeffrey Epstein on United States Attorney's Office senior officials, including U.S. Attorney R. Alexander Acosta; Criminal Division Chief Matt Menchel; and Supervisory AUSA (West Palm Beach) Andew Laurie. The requests list specific FBI agents who may have generated such emails. The Jeffrey Epstein matter was brought to the U.S. Attorney's Office in 2006, as an investigation into sexual abuse of minor girls. A grand jury investigation was opened, and records were sought from various sources. In 2007, Epstein's attorneys sought a global resolution of the case, which would encompass the state court charge of soliciting prostitution, and the federal investigation pertaining to sexual abuse of minors. In September 2007, a non-prosecution agreement was signed by Epstein, his attorneys, and the U.S. Attorney's Office. Nevertheless, Epstein sought review of the NPA at the DOJ Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, claiming there was no basis for a federal criminal prosecution. In May 2008, Child Exploitation and Obscenity concluded that the U.S. Attorney was acting within his broad discretion in pursuing the case. Epstein next sought review with the Deputy Attorney General's Office. In early June 2008, the Deputy A/G concluded that the U.S. Attorney did not abuse his discretion in pursuing the case. On June 20, 2008, Epstein entered pleas of guilty in Palm Beach Circuit Court, in accordance with the terms of the NPA. On July 7, 2008, Jane Does 1 and 2 filed their CVRA lawsuit. We are seeking responsive emails for the period 2006 to 2008. I understand these emails would only exist if they had not been "double deleted;' and they would be on the Unclassified server. I would appreciate your assistance in designing an inquiry that would seek emails responsive to requests 1 through 8. If you need assistance, please let me know. I can be reached at (305) 961-9320, or on the cell, (786) 564-9114. Thank you. Dexter Lee EFTA00211094
