From: ' (USAFLS)" </(>USAJOU=FLS/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN > To: ' (OPR)" Subject: RE: OPR matter Date: Mon, 09 Mar 2009 18:58:29 +0000 Importance: Normal Dear At this time, the Epstein matter is essentially resolved. Pursuant to a confidential Non-Prosecution Agreement with our Office, Mr. Epstein entered a plea to state charges, and is currently incarcerated on those charges. An addendum to the Non-Prosecution Agreement was signed, which provided that an independent Special Master, acting pro bono, would select an attorney to represent those victims who wanted assistance in making claims against Mr. Epstein. The Special Master selected one of the five firms that I had proposed to Mr. Epstein's attorneys. The selected firm is not the one that employs Mr. There have been no judicial findings regarding the matter. I do not know of any additional accusations made by Mr. Epstein's attorneys or any further investigation by the Justice Department. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you. From: (OPR) Sent: Monday, March 09, 2009 2:34 PM To: .(USAFLS) Subject: OPR matter I have been asked to get an update from you on your self-referral in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation that you submitted April 22, 2008. This is a different subject matter than the case — I think you were interviewed last summer by and regarding that case.) What is the current status of the Epstein case? Are there any new developments with regard to the accusation that you had a conflict of interest by recommending Mr. Ocariz for the victims? Please let me know the status of the investigation and whether there have been any judicial findings. (I do not see that office forwarded any complaints to OPR.) EFTA00216273
