Jeffrey Epstein victim says in lawsuit she was recruited as sex slave Page I of 2 PalmBeachDailyrt.n.,cpsm Jeffrey Epstein victim says in lawsuit she was recruited as sex slave By MICHELE DARGAN Daily News Staff Writer Wednesday, July 15, 2009 Ct3 PRINTTHIS Powered by riChcitaboluty New allegations have emerged in a federal lawsuit filed against convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, accusing him of — among other things — asking his 15-year-old victim to quit her job at The Mar-a-Lago Club to become what amounted to his sex slave. The lawsuit alleges that the girl, then working as a changing room assistant for $9 an hour at the club, was recruited there by Epstein's then-companion Ghislaine Maxwell in 1998. Maxwell told the girl, and her father who was an employee at the club, that she could learn massage therapy and earn a "great deal of money," the lawsuit says. The lawsuit alleges that the victim was not only required to satisfy Epstein's "every sexual whim," but that she also was exploited by Epstein's adult male peers. They included royalty, politicians, academicians, businessmen and others in various locations around the world, the suit says. The lawsuit was filed by Miami attorney Robert Josefsberg on behalf of Jane Doe No. 102. Josefsberg previously filed a case on behalf of another minor girl, Jane Doe No. 101. The lawsuit, like the dozen more other lawsuits against the billionaire money manager, says his modus operandi in the initial visit was the same: the minor girl was taken to Epstein's mansion on El Brillo Way and led upstairs to a spa room by one of Epstein's assistants, where he would ask the girl to perform massages and/or various sex acts, for which he would pay her. Epstein's West Palm Beach attorney Robert Critton said he would have no comment. Answers to the lawsuit will be contained in his written response, which is due in court by Aug. 20. In addition to Palm Beach, Epstein took the girl to New York City, Santa Fe, Los Angeles, San Francisco, St. Louis, Europe, the Caribbean and Africa, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that — in all of these locations — she was required to engage in sex acts with him and other women — including other minors. http://cox.printthis.clickability.com/pt/cpt?action=cpt&title=Jeffrey+Epstein+victim+says+in+lawsuit+she... 7/16/2009 EFTA00229733 Jeffrey Epstein victim says in lawsuit she was recruited as sex slave Page 2 of 2 "Most of these acts of abuse occurred during a time when defendant knew that the plaintiff was approximately 15, 16 and 17 years old and, after years of daily sexual exploitation continued into her adulthood ... until she fled at age 19," the lawsuit says. It also alleges that Epstein and Maxwell celebrated the girl's 16th birthday, with Epstein joking that he would have to trade her in because she was getting too old for him. Epstein's "predilection for young girls was well known to those who regularly procured them for him and to his circle of friends," the lawsuit says. According to the lawsuit, Epstein displayed photos of naked underage girls throughout his homes in Palm Beach, New York City, Santa Fe and the U.S. Virgin Islands, including a naked photo the victim saw of herself displayed in his Palm Beach home. The victim believes naked photos of her as a minor were confiscated by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office during the October 2005 execution of a search warrant on his Palm Beach home and are still in the custody of law enforcement. In September 2002, the girl took a trip to Thailand by herself, which was paid for by Epstein. It was there that she met and married her husband. She moved with him to , where they have been living a "modest lifestyle." She had no contact with Epstein or anyone connected to him until 2008, which is when, the lawsuit says, she received several calls from one of his agents, asking whether she knew any of the girls and women filing lawsuits and if she was going to file one. During one of the calls, Epstein got on the phone himself and questioned her, the lawsuit says. Epstein, 56, will be released from the Palm Beach County Stockade Wednesday, after serving less than 13 months of his 18-month sentence for procuring a minor for prostitution and soliciting prostitution.
