Bill Clinton's announcement of Next Generation

As part of a 1996 initiative to curb illegal immigration, Clinton signed the Illegal immigration
Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRMA) on September 30, 1996. Appointed by
Clinton,
91 the U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform recommended reducing legal
immigration from about 800,000 people a year to about 550,000.1;51-1[151 )
Ken Gormley, author of The Death of American Virtue: Clinton vs. Starr, reveals in his book that
Clinton narrowly escaped possible assassination in the Philippines in November 1996. During his
visit to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Manila, while he was on his way
to meet with a senior member of the Philippine government, Clinton was saved from danger
minutes before his motorcade was scheduled to drive over a bridge charged with a timed
improvised explosive device (IED).(1531 According to officials, the IED was large enough to "blow
up the entire presidential motorcade" ..1154 Details of the plot were revealed to Gormley by Lewis C.
Merletti, former member of the presidential protection detail and Director of the Secret Service.
Intelligence officers intercepted a radio transmission indicating there was a wedding cake under a
btidge.u.531 This alerted Merletti and others as Clinton's motorcade was scheduled to drive ver a
major bridge in downtown Manila.11541 Once more, the word*wedding" was thilkode namrused
by a terrorist group for a past #assassination attempa;54-1 Merletti wanted to reroute the
motorcade, but the alternate route would add forty-five minutes to the drive time. Clinton was very
angry, as he was already late for the meeting, but following the advice of the secret service possibly
saved his life. Two other bombs had been discovered in Manila earlier in the week so the threat
level that day was high .1K51 Security personnel at the Manila International Airport uncovered
several grenades and a timing device in a travel bag.MI Officials also discovered a bomb near a
major U.S. naval base.1150 The president was scheduled to visit both these locations later in the
week. An intense investigation took place into the events in Manila and it was discovered that the
group behind the bridgejbomb was a Saudi terrorist group in Afghanistan known as al-Qaeda and
the plot was masterminded by Osama bin Laden 1'541 Until recently, this thwarted assassination
attempt was never made public and remained top secret. Only top members of the U.S. intelligence
community were aware of these events.11541

Non-prosecution agreement (NPA) (2008-2008)
CO - coN5Co (;AZ oe.$>
In July 2006, the FBI began its own investigation of Epstein,
nicknamed "Operation Leap Year"./g-91 It resulted in a 53-page
indictment in June goo7.1N Alexander Acosta, then the U S. Attorney
fqr the Southern District of Florida, agreed to a plea deal, which Alan
Dershowitz helped to negotiate, 4i to grant immunity from all federal
criminal charges to Epstein, along with four napped co-conspirators
,and any unnamed) potential co-conspiratorsrAccording to the
Miami Herald, the non-prosecution agreement "essentially shut down
an ongoing FBI probe into whether there were more victims and other
powerful people who took part in Epstein's sex crimes". At the time,
this halted the investigation and. sealed the indictment The Miami
Herald said: "Acosta agreed, despite a federal law to the contrary, that
the deal would-be kept from the victiras."W
Acosta later said he offered a lenient plea deal because he was told
that Epstein "belonged to intelligence", was "above his pay grade" and to "leave it
alone".154[5-g1-14i Epstein agreed to plead guilty in Florida state court to two felony prostitution
charges, serve i8 months in prison, register as a sex offender, and pay restitution to three dozen

Conviction and sentencing (2008-2011)
On June 3o, 2008, after Epstein plefzded guilty to a state charge (one of two) of procuring for
prostitution a girl below age 18,a-121-
he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. While most
convicted sex offenders in Florida are sent to state prison, Epstein was instead housed in a private
wing of the Palm Beach County Stockade and, according to the sheriffs office, was after
3312 months allowed to leave the jail on "work release" for up to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. This
contravened the sheriffs own policies requiring a maximum remaining sentence of to months and
making- sex offenders ineligible for the privilege. He was allowed to come and go outside of
specified release hours.Eglai
Epstein's cell door was left unlocked, and he had arees.s to the attorney room where a television
was installed for him, before he was moved to the Stockade's previously unstaffed infirmary. He
worked at the office of a foundation he had created shortly before reporting to jail; he dissolved it
after he had served his time. The Sheriffs Office received $128,000 from Epstein's non-profit to
pay for the costs of extra services being provided during his work release. His office was monitored
by "permit deputies" whose overtime was paid by Epstein. They were required to wear suits, and
checked in "welcomed guests" at the "front desk". Later the Sheriffs Office said these guest logs
were destroyed per the department's "records retention" rules (although inexplicably the Stockade
visitor logs were nottitiD He was allowed to use his own driver to drive him between jail and his

The first Newspoll of the third term of the Rann Labor government in March 2011 showed Rann's
personal satisfaction-dissatisfaction rating at a new low of 30-59 and a two-party vote of 44-56, a
swing against Labor of 4.4 percent since the 2010 election. Labor's primary vote dived to 29

two-party vote narrow to 46—54, a swing against Labor of just 2.4 percent, however there was no
statistical change in Rann's personal satisfaction-dissatisfaction ratings.
In late July 2011, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and The Advertiser reported that
senior figures within Labor had indicated to Rann that the state party's leftland right factions had

Friends, I trust you will indulge me if I start by sneaking in a
quick family acknowledgement of my niece Dr Jenna
Malone, who is an academic at this university's Waite
Research Institute and her great friend Judy Rathjen, who
is an accomplished woman in her own right and, in a
connected Adelaide kind of way, is our Vice Chancellor's
sister.
I also acknowledge Judy's brother; ice Chancellor, Mr
Peter Rathien, Professor Jenny Shaw, theiVlinister for
4 Health, the Honourable Stephen Wade nd the` Shadow
Minister for Health, the Honourable Chris Picton.
But most importantly of all, I acknowledge the traditional
owners of the land on which we meet and in the spirit of
reconciliation, pay my respects to Elders past and present.
Yellaka, thank you for your warm Greeting to Country.
Introduction
The is the second time I have had the privilege of being so
welcomed by Yellaka. The first time was at the recent South
Australian State dinner to celebrate 125 years of women's
suffrage in our State — a milestone to be inspired by.

Thank you for your letter of 18 September 2009 about the establishment of a Specialist
Medical Centre in Port Pirie.
SA Health recognises and encourages private medical services to be established within
rural communities. SA Health and Country Health SA (CHSA) have a long established
history of working collaboratively with private medical practitioners in the provision of
health services to the residents of local communities.
Currently, CHSA and the local Health Advisory Council for Port Pine are engaged in
a 10 year health service needs and planning process. This process will identify the
needs of the local community and support the planning of long term health services to
meet those needs. You may wish totonsider discussing your proposal to establish
the Specialist Medical Centre in Port Pine with Mr Roger Kirchrie

Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention and I trust this information w;I: be of
