Thank you for your letter of 8 September 2009 About the establishment of a Specialist
Medical Centre in Port Pirie.
SA Health recognises and encourages private medical services to be established within
rural communities. SA Health and Country Health SA (CHSA) have a long established
history of working collaboratively with private medical practitioners in the provision of
health services to the residents of local communities.
Currently, CHSA and the .local Health Advisory Council for Port Pirie are engaged in
a 10 year health service needs and planning process. This process will identify the
needs of the local community and support the planning of long term health services to
meet
needs. Y

How to interpret this chart
this table shows a mnrnaly of the status of all inpatient beds in the Port Augusta
Hospital (PANS).
In an online environment, you can dick on the chosen hospital in the table and the whole
dashboard will update to show data specific to that hospital.
The dashboard displays occupancy per hospital split across 'general' beds and 'all' beds,
breakdown of inpatients, the length of stay, and much more.
Professor Moyes said the
dashboard, which is available
online, will be updated every
30 minutes to provide real-
time information about bed
occupancy, average length of
stay and inpatient flows.
"The dashboard also indudes
information specific to each
hospital about the number
of patients currently within
each area or clinical unit at
the hospital," Professor
Moyes said.
"it allows people to easily see
all of the different 'streams'
of inpatient care that each
hospital provides, such as
surgical or pediatrics, and the
status of each of these areas.
"Staff already use the
dashboard, along with a
range of other tools, to help
monitor and manage capacity
and ensure that patient safety
is maintained.
"By releasing this data
pubtidy we am continuing to
make our health system more
transparent"
