SUBJECT: Incident on 9 south
On July 23, 2019 at approximately 1:27 am I
responded to a body alarm on 9 south. While the SHU officer was conducted rounds inmate
Epstein # 76318-054 was found in his cell with a noose around his neck and appeared to be
unresponsive. I assisted by taking inmate Epstein #76318-054 from his cell and putting him on a
stretcher the inmate was then taken to the second floor to be medically assessed. Moments after
inmate Epstein became responsive. Inmate Epstein was then placed on suicide watch to be
monitored by staff. While observing inmate Epstein he sat up on the bed and began telling me that
he think his Bunkie tried to kill him, inmate Epstein also stated that his Bunkie also tried to extort
money from him and if he didn't pay him that he would beat him up and that this was going on
for a week. I asked inmate Epstein if he told staff about this and he told me no and that he only
told his lawyer, he went on to say his Bunkie told him that if he beat him up, because his charges
that the officers would not report it and because of this he was not comfortable telling the officers
about the prolong threats and allege attempt to extort him. I immediately reported this to the
lieutenant.
